National Supervision Group visited Fuqing County etc., Fujian Province for China-NLR Project

In order to improve the quality and efficiency of China-NLR Project, China-NLR Project sent a supervision group (consists of Prof. Zhang Guocheng, Deputy Director General of NCLC, Dr. Yu Meiwen, Deputy Director of Department for Leprosy Control, NLCL, Mrs. Sun Yemei, Department of Leprosy Control, NCLC) to Fuqing County, Fujian Province to supervise the implementation of the project from April 15th to 19th, 2006. Fuqing County is one of five China-NLR Project Counties in China.

The project team of Fujian Province and Fuqing County presented the implementation and the outcome of the project to National Leprosy Supervision Group. At the same time, the supervision group reviewed all the documents including essential materials provided by provincial and county project office. During the field visit, the supervision group also interviewed the government officers including two Community Leaders (two Deputy Director of Jiangying Township and one Director of Village, leprosy workers, three general health workers (two general health workers on township level and one village doctor), three People Affected by Leprosy (PAL), etc.

The team also went to Jiangle County, Fujian Province to visit some other registered cases. After the supervision, besides making the detail comments such as improving project management, strengthening POD and rehabilitation activities on the project, the team made a conclusion that the project of integrating leprosy control service into general health services in Fuqing County was achieved.
