Training
course on leprosy for dermatologists was held in Yangzhou
Prefecture on April 14
Invited
by Yangzhou Prefecture Bureau of Health and Center for
Disease Control, NCLC sent a leprosy expert, Prof. Li
Wenzhong, to Yanzhou City, Yangzhou Prefecture to present
basic knowledge and skills on leprosy to dermatologists
from Yangzhou Prefecture.
The
course were organized by Yangzhou Prefecture Bureau of
Health and co-organized by Yangzhou Prefecture Center
for Disease Control with a purpose of improving awareness,
knowledge and skills on leprosy among dermatologist in
Yangzhou Prefecture. A total number of 74 dermatologists,
surgeons and neurologists from general health services
attended the training course. Prof. Li Wenzhong presented
the leprosy situation to participants firstly. Using many
vivid photos with basic leprosy characteristics, Prof.
Li Wengzhong also presented knowledge and skill in leprosy
diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and treatment to all
the participants. In order to show the similarity and
difference of leprosy and other skill diseases, Prof.
Li Wenzhong also showed some photos of other skin diseases
to participants.
YangZhou
Prefecture was a leprosy historic high endemic. The misdiagnosis
of leprosy during the first visit of leprosy patients
was quite high in recently years with an increasing trend.
Hopefully, the training course will help to increase the
awareness and knowledge of leprosy among dermatologists,
surgeons and neurologists.
