Workshop on Leprosy Control Management, China-NLR Project
Held in Shanghai
Supported
by Netherlands Leprosy Relief (NLR) and co-organized by
Shanghai Hospital of Dermatology, The National Workshop
on Leprosy Control Management, China-NLR Project was held
in Xinmin Hotel in Shanghai from November 28th to December
4th by National Center for Leprosy Control, China CDC
(NCLC). A total number of 30 participants including leprosy
mangers from 17 provinces (Hebei, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang,
Anhui, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi,
Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan, Tibet, shaanxi and Gansu), leprosy
experts from NCLC, facilitators from NLR and logistical
support team participated the workshop.
The major objectives of the workshop were to exchange
experience in different provinces, and to deliberate leprosy
control programme in China using the method of "result
based management".
In the opening ceremony, Dr. Xu Weimin, Director General,
Shanghai Hospital of Dermatology made a welcome speech.
Dr. Erik Post, consultant of NLR and leprosy expert of
Royal Tropical Institute and Mr. Jos Brand consultant
of NLR also made short speeches on behalf of facilitators.
Prof. Zhang Guocheng, Executive Director General of NCLC
hoped all participants make a reachable plan of action
to each province as an exercise followed the guideline
of leprosy control activities committed by MOH, under
the facilitating of NLR consultants. He also hope that
all participants can using the methodology learned from
the workshop for their future work and enhanced leprosy
control programme in each province. The opening ceremony
was chaired by Dr. Yu Meiwen, Chief of China-NLR Project
Office in NCLC.
The logical framework approach was used as major methodology
for the workshop. Through Situation Analysis, Strategy
Analysis, Stakeholder Analysis, Logical Framework Matrix,
Activity Schedule, Arrangements for Monitoring & Evaluation,
the leprosy control programme were discussed through small
group discussions and group presentations. The participants
made a big improvement in leprosy management and making
plan of action after 4 days workshop.
The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Jos Brand and Dr.
Erik Post and translated by Dr. Yu Meiwen from NCLC and
Dr. Liu Yangying from Institute of Dermatology, Sichuan
Provincial Academy of Medical Science
