Abstract:
Objectives: To do comparison of ND-O-BSA
(DN) antigen with other antigens on their serological
activities and trends in sera from normal controls(NC)
and previous leprosy patients cured clinically(PLPCC)
for evaluating their potential usage in predicting development
and relapse of disease. Methods: Detecting
the level of antibodies against M. leprae and their trends
in sera from NC (192 cases) and PLPCC (666 cases, including
8 cases of relapse) in ELISAs using ND, Ms, LAM-B and
¦Á2 as antigens. Meanwhile comparing the individual agreement
(A) among the results detected by using ND-, Ms-, LAM-B-
and ¦Á2 -ELISA. Results: ¢Ù In ND-IgM-ELISA
the levels of antibody against ND were increased gradually
in 6 of 8 cases of relapse for leprosy during 3 years,
and the antibody levels for other two cases - no change
continue at high level in one case and negative in other
case; ¢Ú The high A were observed when detecting antibody
for positive and negative in sera from subjects tested
by using above mentioned 4 antigens. But when doing predicting
disease, the best results were seen in ND-IgM-ELISA only,
in Ms-IgG-ELISA--similar that results obtained in ND-IgM-ELISA;
In LAM-B-IgG-ELISA-no regulation to be found£» in ND-IgG-ELISA
and ¦Á2-IgG-ELISA, the trends of antibody levels were
decreased gradually. Conclusions: For
detecting the antibody against Mycobacterium leprae, the
A are very high among 4 antigens, but when predicting
disease, the ND-IgM-ELISA was the most useful one, Ms-IgG-ELISA
was similar with it.
